Secure IIS from Eeye

There is a software product called Secure IIS from Eeye. www.eeye.com . Eeye is the company that discovered the MS01-033 security flaw that CODE RED was written against. Their product also successfully blocked CODE RED without MS patches. Does ANYONE know if this product will work in a Unity environment. (i.e. One Unity server , one Exchange server , NT 4 SP6a , exchage 5.5 sp4, both IIS 4.0) mick2767@hotmail.com<br><br>

Re: Secure IIS from Eeye

When Code Red hit, I asked management if there would be any testing of this product with Unity. Currently there are not any plans to test Secure IIS with Unity. Eeye claims that their products won't interfere with normal IIS operations, but this configuration would not be supported by Cisco TAC if there were problems with SA/AA functionality.

If anyone on this forum has used Secure IIS with Unity, feedback would be appreciated.

Did they indicate any reason why they would not test the product? Security is a serious issue. The Code Red worm has caused many machines to require complete rebuilds. That would be miserable if it was a Unity server that required rebuilding.

Re: Secure IIS from Eeye

It's mainly a matter of resources. There are multitudes of configuration scenarios to test that DON'T involve 3rd party software, and that's where the majority of testing is going to take place. Testing compatibility with things like anti-virus and backup software usually takes place because of pressure from the sales folks, so push this issue through your account team.

Not supported doesn't mean you can't try it out, it just means that if you call TAC with a problem, they are going to ask you to uninstall the 3rd party software if it seems to be causing a conflict.

Personally, I'm curious to find out what impact (if any) the SecureIIS product has on Unity/CCM. It looks like a really useful piece of software. If anyone out there has tested it with Unity, let us know the results.
