Can anybody tell me if there is a Service / Softkey which cam send an incoming call directly to voice mail without having to answer it?
It would be handy if your busy and you see a number that you don't want to speak to come up on the screen and then hit the Send to Voice Mail Softkey / Service. I have read something in the IPMA guide that mentions a Transfer to Voice Mail Soft Key but I am yet to find it,
If you don't mind a 2 step process, here is how we do it:
Press the CFwdALL softkey when on hook and then press the messages button (or dial your voicemail). Ours then says Forwarded to Voicemail. This is using a 7940 phone, so your options may be slightly different, but the basics should be the same. Hope that helps.
I'm told it will be available in CallManager 4.0, due out in December or sometime thereafter, in the form of an "immediate divert" softkey. The softkey is active when the phone is in Alerting (ringing) and will divert the caller to voicemail. It's very much like the immediate-divert feature in IPMA available in CallManager 3.3, but this will be available for any user, not just an IPMA manager.
I have been using Softphone to accomplish that. I login and leave my softphone minimized on my laptop taskbar - when a call comes in both my phone and softphone rings. The softphone then gives me options either to answer the call or sent it right to voicemail.
