Setting Operational VLAN ID of Cisco IP Phones Without CDP

Hi, I have a client who is using HP for their access switches. Up until now, we have been setting the operational VLAN id of phones manually but I would like to automate this process.

I used to work with Avaya VoIP, and there we would add an option 176 to the native VLANs DHCP scope that would instruct the phone to turn on 802.1Q and tag its packets with the relevant VLAN ID. Is the same thing possible with Cisco?

Hi, unfortunatley without CDP you'll have to carry on manually setting the VLAN ID on the phone itself. Once the IP Phone has been powered up it sends 3 CDP messages to discover what VLAN it should be in.
