SIP vs MGCP vs NON SIP Phone Loads?

I am just wondering and it might be a dumb question on which phone load do you use when upgrading your phones.

We run MGCP on our gateways but internally its all SCCP correct.

What determines the phone load that you use in an IP environment?

Thanks!

Re: SIP vs MGCP vs NON SIP Phone Loads?

Assuming Cisco IP phones with CallManager, the loads you want to download are the 'NON SIP' ones on cisco.com. Those are the SCCP loads for use with CallManager. If there's any doubt, just stick with upgrading CallManager to the latest service release, and it should come with the latest phone loads.

Don't run the MGCP or SIP loads if you have CallManager; the phone will no longer be able to register and it will take some effort to get the phone back into SCCP mode.

They are mostly used for 3rd party call control products that use SIP or MGCP. The typical market is Service Providers.

Their are plenty of soft swithes like CM that are not targeted at service providers these will use SIP an MGCP
