SMDI

Can we just use a serial cable to connect between PBX voice system and CCM serial port for SMDI communication without using any external device, such as VG248, DPA?Thanks. No analog phones needed in IPT except for PBX phones still link to PBX. Obiously IP phones are there to use PBX mail system, that's why we want SMDI.

Re: SMDI

Yes, you can use a direct serial connection to one CallManager server running the CMI (Cisco Messaging Interface) service. If you use a passive serial splitter device, you can connect the line to two CallManagers for redundancy. You need to configure the various SMDI parameters in the Service Parameters configuration page for the CMI service.

Re: SMDI

Thanks for your answer. I realize we still need Cisco VG200 or DPA because SMDI is only for Voice mail signal information, it still still need analog port to be as audio path. Is this right?

Thanks
