Softphone and echo issue

Hi Everyon,

I have a 1.3(3) softphone with callmanager 3.3(2), the softphone configured to work in g.729.

my problem is the echo on the other side.

The softphone user can hear very good without echo, but the other side (IPPHONE 7960 or PSTN user) complain for echo.

does anyone know how to reduce or cancel the echo on this scenario?

thanks.

Sounds like acoustic echo. Have you tried a different brand of headset?

Re: Softphone and echo issue

Are you using a headset with an external DSP. I had all kinds of echo and usage problems until I went with a USB headset that has an external DSP. As soon as I did that it all went away!

Re: Softphone and echo issue

If you are using a soundcard headset rather than a USB type such as Plantronics DA50 with a H91N headset , DSP100 headset and DSP combo or a Claritel i750 handset it is most likely acoustic coupling of the less expensive soundcard headset. We did some extensive test with differnt devices and found that the USB is the way to go. They run about in the range of 50 to 100 dollars.
