SRST Question

In my call manager config I am translating about 30 DID's to internal extention. However they are not in sequential order. I beleive that I can do translation rules on the SRST Gateway to allow up to 10 translations, it there another way to translate the incomming DID numbers to extensions?

Thanks

Ken

Re: SRST Question

Yes, it is true that IOS routers can support only upto 10 rules in a translation-rule. Since in a well designed IP telephony network, translation-rules are used only for stripping or modifying first few digits (that come in through DID), this should be sufficient.

Please see the example in

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios122/122cgcr/fvvfax_c/vvfpeers.htm#21104

Remember that you do not need translation of every DID number to a local extension. Usually last 3 or 4 digits can be retained and

with just one translation-rule, we can extract the local extension number from the DID.
