Stack compression and voice

I have a network that support voice. The serial links are 64Kbps. They are currently configured for Multilink PPP and LFI for the voice.

Can I safely enable stack compression on the Links without affecting voice quality? I know that the CPU utilization should not be above 65% if you want to enable compression.

If it can be done, should it be done on the serial interface or the Multilink interface?

Re: Stack compression and voice

NO, you can't enable compression

on payload on a link carrying voice traffic.

_ there will be too much delay introduced.

_ to much processing involved,

_ error migh occur in reconstruction the original voice

packet. remember the voice rtp packet holds already compressed voice

streams.

Instead you can do like this. Your way out is to separate voice and data link and run stack compression

on data links.
