I have a small office, for about 10 phones. I have 10 Cisco 7960 IP Phones and I have a Cisco Catalyst Switch 3500 Series XL. And I have a firewall-router and a T1 line for this.

Could anybody provide me with a step-by-step explanation on how to set this up or show me a step by step manual?

What model of router do you have? Are you running Call Manager Express or what do you plan to use for call control?

Well actually all I have is a SonicWALL TZ 170 Unrestricted.... ppl who gave me the equipment - said it's a firewall... I don't have anything else besides that.

is Call Control a software, or a physical item that is used to route calls...?

You'll have to have something for call control, either a router running CME, server running call manager, or there is a freebie IP PBX system out there that runs on Linux you can download, don't remember the name offhand.

My advise of course will be buying a Cisco Product haha, :) (Cisco CallManager Express or Cisco SIP Proxy Server).

But since you are not using any Cisco IOS router nor CSPS is a viable solution, my advise will be of course Asterisk PBX)

I have it running at home integrated with my CCM (obviusly) and works like a charm!

And load to those IP Phones the SIP firmware.

Hello Gogasca,

I?m very interesting and tell me where can I find information about the implementacion between CallManager and the Asterisk PBX??

Thank you

THe server is defently a way to go for me because I have a server computer and I am planning to use that for my call control.

Could you please point me as to where can I get a call manager software for my server??

Another question I have is how do I connect to m y cisco 3500 xl switch? Whenever I connect to a console port with a cross-over cable (http://www.littlewhitedog.com/content-8.html that's where I got the reference on how to make one) it doesn't show a connection at my computer.

Maxim,

You need a rollover cable to connecto to a serial port on the PC. More info at:
