Currently our policy is "whatever paints your wagon" on tape backup hardware and software customers use. Use what you're comfortable with. The tape hardware that comes on the Compaq platform should be fine, although be aware we have not specifically tested it in our labs. I'd be pretty suprised if the hardware end of it gave you fits.
As long as you're using a top shelf table backup package (i.e. BackupExec or something similiar) you should be in good shape. If you're interested, we'll have a white paper out for backup/restore procedures using BackupExec on a POV platform available in the next few weeks.
