tapi code doesn't work without CISCO softphone running in the background

I have a tapi code, which simply make a call. If I run the CISCO softphone in the background, the application is running fine, I can hear the voice from speaker and talk with the microphone. However, if I don't run the CISCO softphone, I can still make a call and get connected, but, I can't hear the voice from speaker and the mic doesn't work either. I am using CM3.3 and CTI . Does anyone know the problem?

Application has to handle the media streams using the RTP events. Softphone has a media driver which handles the media streams from the far end and sends the media stream from microphone to the farend.

Applications with out any media drivers can still make calls but the media will just 'lost' because application is not picking them up and delivering it to speaker. You should start development on your new media driver.
