do a search on the the error for this forum and you should get some hits..basically, one of the older post states:

When the phone says temp fail it means that the RTP stream is still up but signaling is down.

For example you wouldn't be able to place the call on hold but the conversation could continue

Hi,

Thanks for your input.

But is there any specific reason why this happens.

Any workaround which anyone can specify.

Thanks in advance.

I have seen this before. This only seems to happen when the phones are registered with a Callmanager which is across the WAN. What is your topology? Does this happen when all Callmanager servers and ip phones are on the same LAN?

Sniffing the network would help to see if there is any connectivity issues. As this is intermittent, it is really hard to track down.

The temporary failure message is used to indicate to the user on the phone that supplementary services for the active call are no longer availiable because callmanager no longer has the ability to

manipulate the preserved call.

Is the system need transcoder or hardware conference for different codec?

Please make sure the resources are enough for the voice gateway, especially when the phone with G.729 codec make outside call to PSTN phone sets. The voice gateway need extra DSP resources.
