Re: Text To Speech

Here’s a good white paper on the licensing and part numbers stuff:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/c_unity/whitpapr/licenses.htm

It can be a little confusing around the edges, I know – they’ve simplified the licensing model in 4.0(x) as you can see in that white paper (check out the comparison of what was separately licensed in 3.x vs. 4.x).

I assume, also, you meant “UNITY40-SL16-VERUP” for your part number there. In that case you will convert the existing license you have on your Unity 3.x/2.x server into a FlexLM file (covered in the install guide for 4.0(x)) – this creates a FlexLM license you can use – applying the file you get from the part number above simply brings the number of ports and users in that file up to 16 port levels. So if you have TTS ports (total TTS sessions are licensed now, not users who can have TTS features) on your existing system, you’ll have them on your upgraded system. If you don’t currently have them you wont have them on the upgraded system.

If you want to add TTS sessions to your license you’ll have to purchase an additional feature add on part number for that.
