to improve and increase quality of the voice in h323 gateway

hi,

I have installed the 3.2 SPG CCM and H323 gateway.

i have integrated the PSTN line in this H323 gateway.

the problem is :

When i make a call from or to the PSTN with my softphone or my IP Phone i have low volume and not good quality.

i have used the two lines :

input gain 14 & output attenuation -6 for each voice-port..

any comments ?? please help me !!

Why are you not using default settings for voice ports? They are usually right ones, so change them only if you really know, what you are doing.

Seems to me, that you used max values for these settings, which is not good.

Re: to improve and increase quality of the voice in h323 gateway

I agree with the last post. If voice quality is still a issue with defaults, make small changes in your settings.

Note:

Input gain is used for the voice inbound to the IP Telephony network. To change it back to the default use the no Input gain command.

Output attenuation is used for controlling the outbound traffic from the IP Telephony network. Again to set the default use the no output attenuation command. The default value is 0

So if the quality is poor on the IP Telephony side make small changes to the input gain, and if the quality is poor to the remote side make small changes to the ouput attenuation. Changes require you to restart you call
