We have a Cisco AS5300 with 4 ports E1/PRI, and to one of them (1:D) we have connected a ISDN primary connection to the public network of telephony and wished to simulate a call to a local number to listen that it stamps the telephone, leaving the call by this port and being connected to the Cisco by means of telnet. How we do it?
use the command 'csim start XXX' where XXX is a number that matches on a particualr POTS or VOIP dial peer. This will generate a test call that lasts for about 15 seconds. The command is not documented or officially supported and has been known to crash some versions of IOS so if you have any problems we can't help you.
