Transcoder, Confernce bridge Device Pool

Dear All;

This point is not clear for me maybe anyone help.

When you configure a transcoder or a conference bridge you assign it to a device pool; any devices that use these resources "IP Phones ; gateways and so on use them on the bases how MRGL are assigned. So my question is what it the effect of Device Pool here assigned to the resource itself.

For example if I am using a g711 IPCC at mainsite and an IP Phone at the main site also and both are in the same DP (Phone and CTI RP) and Media resources assgined to the CTI RP is located in a different device pool "instead of being in the same DP as the CTI RP" what is the effect of this and how it is going to work.

Any ideas please

the main "effect" of a DP is that you choose the region and thus the codec.

so, by having your stuff on different device pools you set which codec will be used for communication

if you set local site to G711 and remote to G729 and you want to use a SW CFB it will fail, you would need to configure a xcoder on remote site that speaks G729 to xcode to g711.
