Ugrade Unity 3.0 to 4.0 and change integration from serial to ip

We are currently running Unity 3.0 that is integrated with a PBX, and exchange 2000. We are planning on upgrading to Unity 4.0 and installing Call Manager to replace the PBX. Right now Unity and Exchange are on the same machine, and the plan is to upgrade Unity where it is. My question is how does the change from serial to ip integration take place, and can the upgrade be done in place?

Yes, you can upgrade the machine standing - the "forklift" upgrade procedure from 2.x to 3.x/4.x was (hopefully) a one time thing when we changed the back end out entirely.

The switch integration is changed using the UTIM (Unity Telephone Integration Manager) - after you upgrade to 4.0 you run this at the end of the upgrade process - you'd remove the existing analog integration and replace it with the IP integration using this tool.
