Location A:
Call manager
Unity
Local Gateways
own Exchange Org and Domain
Location B:
Uses Call manager from Location A
uses SRST for backup
uses Unity as Auto Attendant
own Exchange Org and Domain
In this scenario can I run a Unity server at Site B? What happens in SRST mode? Can Unity Express work here?

Due to some serious limitations in the MAPI protocol we don't support Unity connect to Exchange over a WAN link. So in this situation you would need to have a Unity server at both sites. Microsoft is working on coding a fix for us so this could change down the line.
Even if you did have a Unity server at each site Unity can't work with SRST like the phones can. So during a failure Unity isn't going to be able to register with the SRST router.
What you can do is leverage Unity's Digital Networking and have Unity A be the auto attendant for both locations. Then if the WAN link is down you can route calls over the PSTN so that the users phone in Location B will at least ring.
Hope this helps...

In this scenario does it matter that the 2 exchange servers are different (1) 5.5 and (1) E2K and in different domains. They do require Unified Messaging at location B.
