Un-answered calls get charged.

Hi !

We have connected a 5300 to PSTN by a channel Bank using R2CAS signaling.

PSTN-Exchange=====Normal-Analog-lines=====Channel-Bank--------R2CAS(E1-PRI)-----5300.

The configuration is

controller E1 0

clock source line primary

ds0-group 0 timeslots 1-15,17-31 type r2-digital

cas-custom 0

voice-port 0:0

echo-cancel coverage 16

compand-type a-law

cptone DE

timeouts interdigit 30

timeouts ringing 60

timeouts wait-release 20

IOS is Version 12.1(3a)XI7

Router#sh vfc 1 version vc

Voice Feature Card in Slot 1:

VCware Version : 7.16

ROM Monitor Version: 1.3

DSPware Version : 3.4.27l

Technology : C549

Debug-Output

call clearing|0|0|0|0|

The problem is even when a call is not answered ( just ringing) originating and terminating party gets the call charged in its billing system due to this normal call clearing message when call is disconnected. Any help how to change the message for un-answered call?? Thanks

Re: Un-answered calls get charged.

Our experience with R2 channel banks (you are using Valiant Communications units by any chance?) is that they send an answer signal on the R2 trunk after 30 seconds. This is because loopstart trunks normally don't provide any form of answer supervision, and R2 switches often need an answer signal to cut through the audio paths so they assume the call is normally picked up in this 30 second period.

Unless you remove the channel banks from the picture and use digital trunks direct to the exchange you are going to have to live with it ...
