understanding voice mail pilots/profiles

I am trying to get a better understanding of the relationship between voice mail ports, pilot numbers and profiles that were introduced in CM 3.2. I had the following questions:

1) What is the purpose of assigning a CSS to a Voice Mail Pilot Number? Should it be a CSS that includes the phone's DN partition or the voice mail port DN partition?

2) Does the voice mail port device CSS or DN CSS determine which MWI number it can call?

Thanks!

Re: understanding voice mail pilots/profiles

As far as I know Voice Pilot Number is the directory number you dial to access your voice messages. And the CSS determines which partitions calling devices, including IP phones, soft phones, and gateways, can search when attempting to complete a call. Hence, this means that the CSS includes the phone's DN partition .

For understanding it better please refer to the following documents:

And regarding the second question, I feel it is " Yes".
