Unity 3.0 is right around the corner. New systems will begin shipping this week, upgrades will be available next month.
Cisco Unity 3.0 is designed for large enterprises and offers enhanced scalability, increased port capacity, and support for Exchange 5.5 and Exchange 2000. First Customer Shipment for new installs is on August 31, 2001.
For Cisco Unity installed base customers, upgrades to Cisco Unity 3.0 will be available for order on September 26.
Cisco will continue to actively ship and support Cisco Unity 2.46, which is designed for smaller enterprises and organizations running Exchange 5.5.

Will customers have to pay for the 2.4x to 3.0 upgrade or will it be free like CallManager 3.0 to 3.1?

Upgrades to Cisco Unity 3.0 will be available for order on September 26. SASU customers can upgrade by visiting the Product Upgrade Tool and non-contract customers can order through standard ordering channels.

So does this mean customers will have to PAY for upgrades or will they be free if you have a support contract?

Customers with a SASU contract will get it for free and customers without will need to purchase it.

With a SASU contract it should be availabe through the PUT process.
This is a major engine upgrade, not just a build upgrade.
