The scenario i have is a Unified messaging. Exchange and unity on separate boxes. So what i'm looking to do it is move the exchange to a newer box. Will the unity still work if I keep the same name(exchange site) and IP of the new exchange server?

It's not going to be that simple. Since you say the name of the Exchange 2000 server will be the same I'm assuming that you are going to have a new AD forest as well. (You can't have 2 Exchange servers with the same name in the same forest.) There isn't a supported way to disconnect Unity from one forest and move it to another.
You're best bet is to backup with DiRT, make your domain and Exchange changes, reinstall Unity and restore with DiRT.

Hope this helps,

Hi keith, thanks for the reply.
What we're planning was backup the mailboxes from existing exchange server and then take it offline. Next bring the new server online with the same name and migrate the mailboxes over. I'm not sure if that will work. If it does will that also carry over unity attributes for each mailboxes. or is the best bet is still to rebuild.

You should probably check out this doc from Microsoft:

Please keep in mind that Cisco does not support doing this. All we will support is using DiRT.
