Unity 3.1.5 to 4.0.5 upgrade procedure

Is it possible to use the 4.x Full Import/Export tool to migrate from 3.1.5 to 4.0.5 in one hit - or will we have to upgrade in 2 hops? Also will this tool carry over all customer messages, customised prompts and templates etc?

NO, you cannot export data from 3.x or 4.x with these tools. you should use the DiRT utility for this.

there are a few caveats for performing this upgrade.

you should read, thoroughly, the document for your specific upgrade as linked below.

this will be a multi step process beginning with the windows OS, message stores and finally unity itself.

to list all the steps/processes required will be too lengthy here.

Ive had a look at the links provided - but the DiRT tool states that its only able to restore information back onto a server at the same build level - so (if Im reading it correctly) DiRT will not be suitable for an upgrade from 3.1.5 to 4.0.5 - as the customer info will be lost.
