Unity 4.0.3 Error Message

Recently upgraded from Unity UM 3.1.3 to 4.0.3. No visible issues during or after the upgrade.

However, we are seeing the following error message in the app log every 15 minutes:

Event Type: Error

Event Source: CiscoUnity_DSGC

Event Category: Error

Event ID: 1032

Date: 1/22/2004

Time: 8:33:33 AM

User: N/A

Computer: VIPUSMA101

Description:

Within the past 60 minutes, the AvDSGlobalCatalog service failed each attempt to complete a full directory synchronization between the SQL database on the Cisco Unity server and the directory.

Possible causes to this problem include: 1) A persistent network problem. 2) A directory server that is unavailable. 3) An offending Cisco Unity object in the directory 4) A DNS issue.

Verify the network connectivity between Cisco Unity and the directory server. If network connectivity is not the problem, then enable all the micro traces for the AvDSGlobalCatalog service in the Unity Diagnostic Tool. Wait at least 15 minutes for the service to attempt another directory synchronization, then save the diagnostic log file. Report the problem to Cisco TAC and include the diagnostic log.

Any ideas? seeing this error message on multiple separate installations of Unity within the company.

Thanks,

Tony.

Re: Unity 4.0.3 Error Message

Are you probably seeing this:

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/bugtool/onebug.pl?bugid=CSCdw14838

In the 4.0(4) release Unity will detect if the GC is not available, automatically find a new one and synch up. Until then you need to follow the workaround.

Thanks,

Re: Unity 4.0.3 Error Message

You may be running in to the following defect

GC sync fails with E_ADS_BAD_PATHNAME when DL contains forward slash

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/Bugtool/onebug.pl?bugid=CSCeb07397&Submit=Search

An Engineering Special is available for this issue, if indeed this is what you are running in to.
