unity and windows 2003

one customer has recently upgradede their windows2000

environment to windows 2003.

thats their domain controllers and global catalog servers. exchange is still running 2000.

And the unity is also running 2000.

unity is ver. 4.0.2. After the upgrade unity is (partly) not working anymore, that is it's still possible to leave a message, but the user never gets the message or MWI turned on.

As far as i can see you need ver. 4.0.3 to work in an 2003 environment (is that correct?)

the AvCsMgr service starts up if the server is rebooted.

or if you start the unity server from the icon in the task bar. it cannot be restarted manually under services.

the windows event-log reports the following :

Event ID : 32013

Event ID : 30003

Event ID : 30012

I guess an upgrade to ver. 4.0.3 will solve the issue

or is there another solution ?

After a Domain Controller Global Catalog (DCGC) is Upgraded to Windows 2003, Unity server must be rebooted

Cisco Unity will exhibit errors when it loses connection to the DCGC server and unexpected behaviors can occur. If the DCGC is updated to Windows 2003, then Cisco Unity should be rebooted to synch back up with the server.

I would also recommend that you check the following Registry entries to make sure it is pointing to the correct GC/DC...

Check the following registry values and make sure that they are correct:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Active Voice > DirectoryConnectors > DirSynchAD > 1.00 > Domains > {domain} > DefaultDomainController

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Active Voice > DirectoryConnectors > DirSynchGlobalCatalog > 1.00 > Directory > DefaultGlobalCatalogServer

Also check the Exchange server entries...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Active Voice\Doh\1.0\Mail Server Name

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE \Active Voice\MalEx\1.0\ServerName

hello again

the unity server has been rebooted

and the sugested registry values has been checked.

still the same problem. :(

could it help to run the permission wizzard again ?

or do you have other sugestions

Hi Thomas,

Another issue that can cause this is DNS,

take a look at teh following guide and see if it helps...

hi again

i have solved the issue.

solution was to delete the MAPI profile :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles

delete "Unity System Profile" entry and reboot.
