Unity Backup: Veritas / ArcServe

I have a customer who is running Novell for all their servers. Unity is the only MS Windows domain server in the company. They run ArcServe as their standard backup utility.

Since Veritas is the only supported Unity backup program, can they run the VERITAS program on the Unity server. The CCO documentation is unclear on this, and I figure that it makes the assumption they are only placing the agent on the server.

Can I get any official advice on this? Obviously the customer's preference is to use an ArcServe agent.

Thanks,

Re: Unity Backup: Veritas / ArcServe

Yes you can run the Veritas backup program on the Unity server itself - it's obviously nicer to run the backup from off box with just the agent on Unity but either way is supported.

and you can, of course, us ArcServe but TAC can't help you out if you run into any problems since we don't test/document/qualify it in house with Unity. There are sites out there using ArcServe just fine, however.
