Unity Bridge and Octel

I have done an integration to an Octel using a unity bridge and the brooktrout cards. However, I heard someone talking about a "PBX Link" can I use this pbx link (if it exists) to integrate via a T1 or PRI to pass messages and MWI as opposed to using the analog brooktrout card? If not what is the best way to integrate to an octel (yes forwarding messages between the mail systems is needed).

Re: Unity Bridge and Octel

PBXLink is for providing phone system integration between Unity and a Nortel or Lucent PBX.

The Cisco Unity Bridge is for providing messaging interoperability between Unity and another voice mail system using Octel Analog Networking protocol.

So they're two distinctively different purposes. Check out the following...

For PBXLink...

For Bridge...

Re: Unity Bridge and Octel

So if we are doing a phased migration off of the Octel (CallManager will not be involved as of right now. The PBX's will be using Unity for VM). We would need both the PBXLink and Unity Bridge. The Unity Bridge will go away after the migration, Correct? There are 5000 VM users so it will be a slow migration and during that time messages need to be passed between the two VM platforms. Also, if we have two Unity Servers using PBXLink how do the separate Unity Servers talk to each other?

Re: Unity Bridge and Octel

Here's the Cisco Unity Networking Guide. This should answer your questions about how the Unity servers talk to each other in the Digital Networking chapter. http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/c_unity/net/net402/ex/index.htm
