We have an installed system that is functioning except
that the Unity server fails in creating an exchange
mailbox. A new user gets created in AD, and that
user is listed as on our server - but no Exchange mailbox
is creates (so Unity can't save messages)

We have another Unity system right beside it, we have
checked to make sure that the installation account has
the rights to log in as a service and act as part of
the operating system - any other rights we should check?

sounds like maybe the service account doesn't have rights in Exchange. Verify that the Unity service account has
"Exchange Full Administrator" rights on the E2K server.

Oddly enough the issue is not that the mailboxes
don't get created in Exchange - just that it takes
about an hour to create them (the box has tons of
resources - that is not the issue).
TAC is going to try to get Microsoft involved to find
out why this might be happening.

It was my understanding of Exch2k that you cant actually see the mailbox until the user access's it the first time and then the mailbox is created in the Exchange System Admin

The mailboxes take an hour to get created - we
can't even leave a message until it gets created.
I know it won't show up in the Exch Mgt screen
until we leave a message - but any attempt to leave
a message fails for about an hour.
We have too many problems....we are going to rebuild
the second Unity server as a member of the domain of
the first server.
