Unity Event Log Error

I have been getting the following recurring error in the Unity Application log. It happens on random ports. I am having a problem where Unity will be busy when people try to access it sometimes and I think this error may be related. Can someone please give me some possible causes for this error and what to do about it? Re: Unity Event Log Error

This error is showing up because the Unity component MIU is waiting for a TAPI event and the wait time (30 seconds) has expired. Now, the reasons why a TSP might not respond withing a timely matter can vary, it all depends upon the TSP that you are using. Is this a CallManager integration? If so, what is the TSP version that you are running (right click on \Winnt\System32\AvSkinny.tsp).

If this is a CallManger integration, the most likely cause of this would be release transferring to an invalid (something that will cause CCM to send reorder), or a busy non-forwarded DN. What device is sitting at DN 8793?

Re: Unity Event Log Error

It is a Call Manager Integration. Call Manager 3.1)2c) TSP 3.1.2. Actually, I have no device sitting at DN 8793, so that might explain the problem. Unity is probably trying to forward to an extension that does not exist?

Re: Unity Event Log Error

To split hairs, CallManager forwards; Unity transfers. Whatever, right? :)

You got it, Unity is transferring to a non-existant (therefore invalid) extension. If you look closer at the event log (right next to the MIU error), you should see a TSP warning that reads:

Failed blind transfer to 8793. Re-order tone detected.

Re: Unity Event Log Error

Actually, I took a closer look at you App log message. This looks a bit more complicated than I originally thought.

It's probably caused by the release transfer to an invalid extension. I think the MIU is waiting for a call event for a previous call on a new call.

If you got the TSP warning, that's good, there's no problem with that. I don't think that you should be getting this MIU error. Do you have a TAC case opened?

Re: Unity Event Log Error

Not on this particular error. I am having several problems with Unity and I do not know if they are interelated or not. The biggest problem is that sometimes I get a busy signal from Unity when I either try to call a call handler, or a subscriber tries to check their messages.

Re: Unity Event Log Error

I'd open one. Not necessarily on the error, but on the fact that sometimes callers are not getting into Unity. Is it busy or re-order (fast busy) that is heard? If you do open the TAC case, I'd mention that you are also seeing this error in the event log.

Re: Unity Event Log Error

I had acase open about the Unity access in general. I have been gathering some trace files but one thing thr TAC engineer said was to make sure that the TSP was pointing to the subscriber that was the primary Call Manager for thr Device pool that the Voice Mail ports were in. I noticed that I had the TSP pointing to the publisher so I made the change. Can you verify that the TSP should be pointing to the subsciber and do you think problems could have arose from having the TSP point to the Publisher?

Thank You
