Unity&Exchange

Hello guys,

We need to implement a stand alon unity voice mail for 250 users. Am I right if I say no matter of using Unity Voice mail only or Unified messaging we need to have an Exchange in our environment? If so, can we implement the Exchange into the unity server itself or we need to have an extra server for Exchange?

Thanks,

BT

Re: Unity&Exchange

BT,

For voicemail only you can install Exchange onbox.

For unified messaging you have to have your exchange server offbox.

Re: Unity&Exchange

Thanks for the reply. Does unity work without Exchange? Is Exchange absolute necessary part of unity?

Thanks,

BT

Re: Unity&Exchange

Unity stores voicemails in users inbox. Unity configurations are stored in SQL database. Thats why SQL is called Datastore. Messages are stored in Message store (Exchange or Lotus notes). You either need Notes or Exchange to make Unity work.

If you use Unity connection, you dont need Exchange. But Unity connection is available in voicemail only config. (It supports imap connection though)

Re: Unity&Exchange

If we use unity connection in Voice mail only config, where does unity store the voicemails if we don't use Exchange?
