This may be a dumb question, but where on Unity can I see the messages waiting in the queue???

which message queue do you mean? What is it you are wanting to do here?

We are getting delays in message delivery, I just wanted to see how many were sitting there waiting to go to the mailboxes.

The messages are stored in the UnityMTA folder (drive:\CommServer\UnityMTA) if Unity believes that the Exchange server is down (or if it is too busy). When Exchange comes up, it will send the messages to the Exchange server. You can also run a Subscriber Message Activity report from Unity and enable message tracking in Exchange to track the messages.
