Upgrade CCM's using spare drives

What I want to do is:

Upgrade my 3.3(2) CCM's to 4.1(3)

Can I?

Pull drive in slot 1 of publisher, install blank drive

and let the server mirror the blank drive.

Install the Drive from slot 1 into a spare server in slot 0, install blank

drive in slot 1 and let it build it.

Use spare server to upgrade to 4.1(3)

and test with a few phones. If fine, then shutdown 3.3(2)publisher and bring up new 4.1(3) publisher.

Remove subscriber from network and upgrade it to 4.1(3).

Will this work??

Thanks

YES

DOUBT IT - You will need to upgrade your subscribers after the publisher upgrade and these need to be connected to the new publisher.

Re: Upgrade CCM's using spare drives

Thanks.

How do I do the subscriber upgrade? Will it be okay

to leave it on the network after the new publisher is

up and running, then do the upgrade while connected?

Or should I take it off the network, do upgrade, then

bring it up.

Thanks

Re: Upgrade CCM's using spare drives

Hi

I've mirrored lots of servers this way - you've more or less got the procedure right.

You should put the disk you pull from box 1 into the same slot in box 2 though - then when you boot the second box up (presuming it's HP here) you'll need to select 'Interim Recovery Mode'. Once you've done this you're free to stick in another blank disk and the mirror will rebuild.

Aaron,

How long will it take to mirror the empty drive? Will

it impact users?

Thanks for your help!!
