Upgrade Physical Memory on MCS-7835-1266

Can we upgrade the MCS-7835-1266 from default 1Gb to maybe 2Gb. What are my options, 512 Gb or 1 Gb SDRAMs. How many DIMM slots come free with the default server config?

I called Cisco pre-sales and they said that the memory upgrade for this server has reached EOL and stopped shipping now. They asked me to contact Compaq and see if they have a memory upgrade available. I see there is a part number for 512 Gb SDRAM, MEM-7835-1266-512, whats the part number for 1Gb SDRAM.

Has anyone upgraded the MCS 7835 memory, or can help me here.

TIA

Re: Upgrade Physical Memory on MCS-7835-1266

MCS-7835-1266 supports upto 6GB memory.

Most likely 1GB memory should have come as 2 512 MB

modules since the modules are installed as pairs.

Hi Abdul,

Thanks for your reply. The info helps!

How many DIMM slots are there, and how many DIMM slots are free when the server is shipped.

Re: Upgrade Physical Memory on MCS-7835-1266

Can I use the memory from DL380G2 into the MCS-7835-1266 server? That's bcuz Cisco is no longer shipping memory for the MCS 7835-1266.

Thanks,

As long as the memory is approved by compaq for use in the server you have, its fine. www.crucial.com is my favorite source.
