Using a Carat ^

I am trying to implement number slicing in a translation-rule on a 3845 with CME3.3. When I try to use the ^ symbol, the IOS tells me 'Unrecognized Command'. Please see the link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/tech/tk652/tk90/technologies_tech_note09186a0080325e8e.shtml#truncating for the example I am working from. Does anyone know why I can't use the ^ and what can be done to get around this? Thanks in advance

Re: Using a Carat ^

It works fine for me. Here is a sample rule I created.

voice translation-rule 1

rule 1 /^222/ /555/

Can you paste the rule you are trying to use? Also what is your IOS version?

Re: Using a Carat ^

Hi

Are you using 'voice translation-rule' or 'translation-rule'? From what I remember you can use slicing only with the voice translation-rule type.
