using Cisco Softphone with any other Gatekeeper

I downloaded teh Cisco Softphone from CCO and i was wondering if anyone knows of a way of making it register and work with a third party GK. All the documentation points me to the criticality of a cisco Call Manager on the network, which i don't have. In the past i was able to get some other vendors's softphones (Pingtel, for exple) to work fine. Any suggestions?

Re: using Cisco Softphone with any other Gatekeeper

Cisco IP SoftPhone is TAPI based and uses the CTIQBE protocol to talk to a Cisco CallManager. Currently that is the only way to use it. There are plans for the future to offer a version of Cisco IP SoftPhone that uses other protocols for signaling, but H.323 is not on that list as far as I know.

The Cisco IP Softphone is proprietary to CallManager and uses Cisco TSP and will not work with a SIP server to the best of my knowledge.
