Using External Devices with Cisco IP Phone

Is there any docs about the subject? I'm interested in connecting external audio systems (microphones and speakers) to IP Phones' headset port.

Does anyone know the audio signal parameters that we need to feed into the IP Phone 7940 and the headset port pinout (audio in/out).

Any info would be much appreciated.

To place and answer calls using a headset, plug an approved headset into the back of the phone base and press the Headset button on the front of your phone.

You can use the headset in conjunction with all of the features on your Cisco IP Phone, including the Volume and Mute buttons. Use these buttons to adjust the ear piece volume and to mute the speech path from the headset microphone.

The Cisco IP Phone models 7960 and 7940 support four- or six-wire headset jacks. For information on the exact models supported, see the following URLs:

Thanks, but I'm not interested in the Headsets. What I need is to connect an external audio system (microphone and speakers) to an IP phone.

Maybe somene has used the headset port to connect to an overhead paging systems or something like this?
