Using old POTS style phones on VoIP network.

I'm looking for a way to continue using the old phones with the VoIP. Is there such a device?

Hi Kevin,

The VG-200 Series gateways offer just this type of support. We use many VG248's to support Analog Phones,Faxes etc. Have a look;

Cisco VG200 Series Gateways - including Cisco VG248 and Cisco VG224 Analog Phone Gateways support traditional analog devices while taking advantage of the new capabilities of IP Communications.

Cisco VG200 Series Gateways provide:

A high-density gateway for using analog phones, fax machines, modems, voicemail systems, and speakerphones

A broad range of features for enterprise voice systems based on Cisco Unified CallManager or Cisco Unified CallManager Express

The Cisco VG248 Analog Phone Gateway offers 48 full-featured analog phone lines for use as extensions to the Cisco Unified CallManager system in a compact 19-inch rack-mount chassis.

Based on a Cisco IOS Software platform, the Cisco VG224 Analog Phone Gateway offers 24 full-featured analog phones for use as extensions to Cisco Unified CallManager or Cisco Unified CallManager Express systems in a compact 19-inch rack-mount chassis.

Hope this helps!

Hi Kevin,

There is also a "single-line" type device called the ATA. Have a look;

Cisco ATA 186 and Cisco ATA 188

The Cisco ATA 186 and Cisco ATA 188 Analog Telephone Adaptors function as an analog telephone adapter that interfaces regular analog telephones to IP-based telephony networks. The Cisco ATA converts any regular analog telephone into an Internet telephone. Customers install the Cisco ATA at their premises. Each adapter supports two voice ports, each with its own telephone number.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info..I'll check it out.

Do you know if there is a "inline" type of device for a single line situation?

I'm looking of a wide range of devices to cover different situations?
