VG200 as a conference/transcoding resource

Can an NM-HDV-1T1 module be used strictly as a DSP farm with the DSP farm IOS on the VG200?

Yes. You don't even need to have the VWIC inserted in the module. Keep in mind that the number of DSP modules you have inserted will determine how many streams for DSP farm services will be possible.

Re: VG200 as a conference/transcoding resource

I can't seem to get it to work. I have version 12.1(5)YH1. I have followed the instructions at http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/c_access/vg_200/config/dsp.htm

When configuring the Callmanager, it says to put in MTPXXXXXXXXX (where X is the MAC address) but when I go to the Callmanager and select IOS MTP, it says to put in the hostname for the IOS gateway. I've tried it both ways and I can't get it to work. On the VG200, when I do a 'sh sccp' I get the following...

SCCP Admin State: UP

Gateway IP Address: 10.1.4.80, Port Number: 0

Switchover Method: IMMEDIATE, Switchback Method: GUARD_TIMER

Switchback Guard Timer: 1200 sec, IP Precedence: 5

Max Supported MTP sessions: 12

Transcoding Oper State: DOWN - Cause Code: DSPFARM_DOWN

Active Call Manager: NONE

TCP Link Status: NOT_CONNECTED

Conferencing Oper State: DOWN - Cause Code: DSPFARM_DOWN

Active Call Manager: NONE

TCP Link Status: NOT_CONNECTED

Call Manager: 10.1.4.29, Port Number: 2000

Priority: 1, Version: 3.1

I must be missing something somewhere, but I can't figure it out.

Re: VG200 as a conference/transcoding resource

At the beginning I had the same trouble to get it to work. But after I while, I could get it to work easily as a Conference Bridge. The next step was than to add Transcoding.

Did you configure the VG200 under the Transcoder Configuration only? Did you configure a Conference Bridge?

Did you try all "dspfarm; no dspfarm; ..." and "sccp; no sccp; ..." stuff?

Yes, I finally got both working. I left work frustrated on Friday, came back on Monday and it was working. I guess I wasn't patient enough the first time.

Re: VG200 as a conference/transcoding resource

You posted this about having problems getting the conference bridging and transcoding up. I'm having the same problem. I got it to come up a couple of times in Conference only mode. I added Transcoding and the DSPFARM won't come up. I took it back out and it still won't come up. I cannot remember what I did for it to come up. It sounds like the same thing you were experiencing. Could you please tell me what you did to enable it?

Thanks,

Re: VG200 as a conference/transcoding resource

I simply followed the instructions as stated in the instructions. It didn't work, but when I came back on Monday after a weekend, it was working. Strange. Try stopping and restarted the CCM services.
