VG248 does not honour SRST properties provided through the CM Device Pool s
On the VG248 (firm ver 1.2(1) ) to get SRST to work; under the Advanced Settings menu you have to set : -
SRST Policy = Enabled: use specified provider
SRST Provider = IP address of device providing local SRST support
If you do not set up the SRST Provider IP address on the VG248, SRST does not work regardless of any CM settings.
With the above attributes set SRST appears to automatically be enabled for all ports on the VG248 regardless of any CM settings. Thus is you have 48 analogue devices configured, in the event of a CM failure all 48 ports will try and register with the SRST Provider specified on the VG248.
If on CM 3.3(3) you configure two Device Pools, one with SRST enabled and the other with SRST disabled, you can apply these Device Pools to IP Phones to select which phones use SRST in the event of a CM failure.
If you use this methodology on CM 3.3(3) and apply a Device Pool specifying no SRST against all individual VGC Phones on a VG248, it makes no difference all 48 enabled ports will still try and register to the SRST Provider.
This is a real problem for sites using gateways (such as 2651XM) which can only support 48 SRST devices; if you have a VG248 with say a couple of devices that need SRST support, the current implementation will blow away all your local SRST resources.
Is there some way of getting the VG248 to honour the SRST properties provided through the CM Device Pool settings?

If you have 2 ISR routers, one acting as Failover, do we need to have both the same number of SRST licenses on the 2 routers?
No. You will only need the SRST licenses on the primary router. Because this feature...
