VM playback on PDA

Jeff I have a client who wishes to know if they can store and playback messages on their PDA's (yes I agree how many message can you really fit on one of those things, but they keep asking). I have change codec from ulaw to alaw but still no good looks like most PDA can only playback standard MS ACM wave files (also MP3 and other music formats). Any idea if an option for ACM format wave files is on the cards for any future release of unity.<br><br>Pat Knight<br><br><br>

No plans to support any new codecs that I know of. Just MuLaw, ALaw, ADPCM 3K, ADPCM 4K and G729a at the moment.

As a follow up to this... one of the guys in the WAV group wasn't sure was "MS ACM" meant... he noted:

======================
if we interpret "MS ACM" to be a reference to a specific codec, "MS-ADPCM", which ships with all Microsoft OS versions, including the Pocket PC we support MS-ADPCM if you run the SetRecordFormat.exe utility in the Tools subdirectory of Unity, and choose MS-ADPCM as the system-wide recording format.

However, why do that? All Microsoft OS versions ship with G.711/ mu-law, which is about the same compression size and sounds better and is our default recording format
==========================

hope that helps...
