VMI indicator on a 7960 2 line phone - Second line does not get VMI

I' currently running CM 3.1.2c and Unity 3.1. I have a user with a 7960 phone line one is their personal extension, the light and the LCD both indicate messages just fine. The second line ( a seperate externson and exchange user) used to display a "envelope" on the LCD when messages were waiting, it seems to have stopped any VMI. I tried dialing the VMI and resseting it for that line, It turns on the "envelope" but does not update its status when the messages are read. Any Ideas what I can do to fix it?

I read in another simalar conversation that I needed to change the MWI code set for the second line..... should I do that? If so How?
