A subscriber recently realized that in order to receive any of her messages over the phone she had to speak into the receiver first. She would like to know if there was anyway of turning this feature off, or is this just the way that Unity works?

Please provide some minimal system details such as Unity version, and switch integration type. It makes a huge difference whether this is a legacy or IP switch integration. From what you are describing, it sounds like it is a legacy integration.

Is this when she tries to check he voice mail from the phone using the VMO?
This is not required when they access their mail through the conversations by calling into the main number.

The user is accessing her messages over the phone. The version of Unity is 3.0.1. I'm not sure of the switch integration type.
