Voice Gateways

What gateway solution would be fitting to support 5 voice PRIs. What is the max amount of voice cards that a 2851 router can support? Is there a better solution to this?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Voice Gateways

You can get dual T1 cards VWIC-2MFT-T1/E1 that go into HWIC slots on the router (4 of them), plus you can add a HDV-NM with 2 more cards in it for a totoal of 12 PRIs. Off course you will not have any more slots for WAN cards in this situaltion, and I don't belive the router would hadle this much load. You would also need to make sure that you have enough PVDMs 3 x 64 channel on the motherboard plus the HDV-NM which should be enough for g.711 calls, but probably not enough for g.729.

Your other optoins are 6608-T1 blade (8 ports) for 6500 switch if you have one, or deploying multiple 28XX GW.

Re: Voice Gateways

Depending on your hardware you could use one 4 port T1 card and a 2 port T1 card on the router, or if you have a 6500 chassis running native you can use a ws-x6608 voice gateway (8 ports total).
