Voice-mail activity/detection on Cisco AS5400 gateways

Currently utilize AS5400's to manage outbound calls via T1 lines. Calls are sent out the gateways via VoIP over SIP.

The gateway then sends them over the telco lines to the end user telephone.

Is there a way to enable some sort of Voice-mail/Activity detection? I believe Cisco offers a card/module that has this functionality. Can anyone confirm this and/or provide details?

VAD is an software feature. You can enable or disable it by using "vad" command for the dial up peer. Please go through the following links for more information...
