VoIP or VoFR

Hi,

We have one 2610 (with 4 FXO Ports) connected over a FR network to another 2610 (with 4 FXS Ports).

We have 2 PVC over one physical interface, the Voice PVC is 32K CIR and is

only used for Voice.

How should i decide between VoFR and VoIP ?

Is there a document listing adv/disadv of both ?

In your situation I would go with VOFR, because VOFR combines slightly less bandwidth due to the size of the headers. Another advantage of VOFR is you can tandem calls through a central site from remote sites if you so desire.

It really is a design consideration, and not much of the consideration is technical.

Go VoFR it's much less bandwidth intensive.

You still will not be able to use all 4 ports at once as VoFR will consume 11.2K per call using G.729 and default 20 byte frames. Unfortunately no frame size is going to allow you to get all 4. But 24K per call as Voip means you would only get 1 call and header compression would just up the CPU utilisation and get you nothing more than VoFR..
