VoIP over FR

I am using VoIP ove FR. I need to have priority for voice traffic and searching for best machanism.

I undderstand thare are several methods;

1. IP Preedence

2. RSVP

3. Traffic shaping with BW reservarion

4. LLQ ( low latency queuing)

DO I have to use just only one machanism from the above list or do I have to use combination of several machanisms ?

Re: VoIP over FR

QoS involves traffic marking, queuing and prioritization,

traffic shapping. With the latest IOS, voice packets are set ip precedence 5 automacticly

you need LLQ for queuing and priortization. And frame relay traffic shaping.

Re: VoIP over FR

you do not have to combine qos methods however depending on your environment you may want to . Typically what method you use will depend on what your bandwidth requirements are how much voice goes over a shared data link and your current voice quality without and qos in place. If you were able to be more specific with the details of your environment it would be easier to make a responsible suggestion.

Re: VoIP over FR

LLQ combines Ip precedence (if set).

RSVP will only work if each router has RSVP turned on each router in the path.

Traffic shaping only shapes fragmentation and delay and does not set priority.

Answer.

LLQ

then traffic shaping on your frame links will work fine.
