VOIP provider integration into PSTN as peer among other POTS providers
We are building city-wide multimedia network using Fast and Gigabit Ethernet technology (Twisted Pair, SingleMode and MultiMode). If successful the net will be nation-wide. On the certain stage we want to add telephone services (VOIP of course) to our services portfolio. In our city there are about two and a half million potential subscribers.
I know how to build small to large enterprise VOIP network. But I need a slightly different thing (as I think).
Please advice does current CISCO equipment and software permits to act as peer telephony provider among other existing ones?
If yes what components this hardware/software system should consist of and what is approximate cost of it per port?.
In Donetsk as well as in the rest of Ukraine POTS providers are based on old TDM technology and they provide their phone service to end users with Class 5 switches. So I need to interoperate between them somehow.
Please let me know If you need me to give you more technical or specific information to answer my questions.
