VOIP question

I just got two FXS card for my 2611(64/16) and 2610(24/8), The IOS of 2611 is enterprise version. I connected 2611 and 2610 with the ethernet ports with a cross-over RJ45 cable and the ping is ok.

now when I want to configure the voice card, i use the following command,

2611#dial-peer voice 1 pots

desti 1111

next step, i should enter "port" command, but no "port" command, Why? is this a problem of IOS? or not.

Re: VOIP question

when you do a "show version" do you see "4 Voice FXS ports" in the list?

What version is the IOS?

If they don't show up in show version & the IOS is late 12.1 or 12.2 or 12.3

-- you might try reseating the VICs in the NM-2V network module slots & reseat the voice network module in the NM slot... Maybe it doesn't have a good connection...

for the 2611, i think the IOS and the memory(64/16) are ok, for the 2610, maybe the IOS is not good, just 11.3, right now, i am waiting the new memory coming, but i think the 2611 should be no problem, but i can not give "port" command, i don't know why?

Re: VOIP question

You are running an Enterprise Basic feature set. Try running a Plus feature set of IOS. You can see the router is probably detecting the hardware by doing show diag, but since it does not has the proper IOS it won't show the voice hardware in the config.

I hope that helps.

Re: VOIP question

Also for 11.3 if you choose an basic IP Plus IOS you should be able to run voip.
