We are evaluting a VOIP system for out network what we have is Vega 50 unit made by vegastream which allows u to connect standard analog telephone to run over IP. This will be implemented over wan sites so obvisouly we need routers at both end to terminate the serial line. We also want to have QOS running as over this serial line we will be running standard data overthe link on top voip stuff. We wonder which QOS of service will be suitable eg RTP, IP predence or RSVP.
also they documents which explain the different protocol as someone has told me RTP is not suitable for VOIP as it UDP. here is the exact quote i have been given which doesnt make sense The advantage of this is that there is no retries which
are not very useful in VoIP and it's resilient to individual link failure. I orginally wanted to use RTP but due to this statement i bit lost.
