The SetVolume.zip only works with Unity 3.1.x and I am running 3.0.3. Is there a way to adjust the volume of the greetings higher?

Thanks,

Russ

the SetVolume tool leverages the AGC libraries that are only installed on Unity 3.1(1) and later... there aren't any good options for raising/lowering volumes of greetings in bulk on 3.0(x) systems.

Do I have any options?

Well... you can rerecord your greetings manually at a lower volume level (i.e. setting a different record level using WavGain to select an appropriate dB level). Assuming you have a bunch of greetings this is probably not ideal, however.

The AGC functionality was added specifically to help deal with volume discrepency issues along these lines and unfortunately it's not just a "drop and go" module, it requires a bunch of changes that were done in 3.1 (these changes were over 6 months in the works... not trivial stuff). I can't simply port it back and make it work on 3.0 easily.

When is 3.1 being released? If I read between the lines, it sounds like I just need to tough it out until 3.1. The greetings that are too low are the ones that come with the system, such as..."Please hold while I transfer your call". I am going to see what happens when I adjust the output attenuation on my gateway.

Thanks,

Russ

The volume adjust only touches user recorded greetings... you're talking about system prompts which are not touched. The prompts for 3.x are recorded at roughly -26 db which is roughly what the IP phone equipment records at. Unity 3.1 will attemp to adjust all recordings (voice names, greetings, messages) to -26 as well such that everything evens out more or less. The problem is that any greetings recorded before that point will still be loud since the AGC only works when recording, not when playing back. The volume adjust tool is designed to go back and get all the greetings adjusted down after installing 3.1. It does not touch system prompts.

Greetings,

Is there any way then to adjust the system prompt to increase its volume?

you can adjust the overall volume of all outbound audio (which includes prompts). The trick is to get the greetings, messages and prompts to be roughly the same level. Check out the audio tech tip here, it may help clear a few things up:

also be aware that Unity 3.1(1) and later support AGC for inbound messages which helps in leveling the greetings, prompts and messages at the same dB target.
